When Mowgli Mentoring ventured into the Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) market, our goal was to introduce 360-degree mentoring as an essential component of the vibrant SSA ecosystem and increase our beneficiary group to support women and youth in addition to entrepreneurs and the corporate employees we previously supported in the Middle East and North African region. 2 years down the line, we have worked with pioneers in the ecosystem such as first youth agribusiness incubator in Ethiopia — blueMoon Ethiopia to support pre-startup and early entrepreneurs, climate innovators incubated at the World Bank funded Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) and the leading telecommunications company in Kenya to empower women in the workplace and strengthen the organisation’s leadership pipeline and gender inclusion within senior management.
It’s been an exciting journey and as an organisation we are proud to support such a diverse group of beneficiaries and successfully continue with our mission continually build the recognition of mentoring as a key enabler for developing human capital.
Given this backdrop, we are thrilled to announce that to further strengthen our ability to achieve our impact goal, which is to develop 10,000 active and high-quality mentors who will serve 50,000 beneficiaries through mentoring by the year 2030, the Argidius Foundation has partnered with Mowgli Mentoring. The Argidius Foundation works to help entrepreneurs develop profitable businesses that contribute towards the sustainable development of their communities.
This partnership will support Mowgli to develop new program delivery mechanisms and systems that will achieve a number of key strategic objectives:
- Innovatively enhance our monitoring and evaluation methodology and practices as we work towards our vision. This will be done in partnership with Genesis Analytics who will be our Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) for the duration of the project. We’ve already started our work with Genesis Analytics, as we became students again and learnt about the latest thinking around theories of change, behavioural economics and how we can further leverage our impact data to learn and improve our processes as well as further prove the case for mentoring.
2. Seek to reduce the cost per beneficiary and increase the reach and impact of our 360-degree mentoring approach through the:
a. Development of a new online mentor training course utilising our EMCC accredited syllabus in partnership with NovoEd
b. Partnership with Chronus, a leading mentoring platform, to strengthen our ongoing support process and peer group development through the use of technology
In addition, the Argidius-Mowgli partnership will enable us to strengthen new entrepreneurial ecosystems across key counties in Kenya; Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa with mentoring. We anticipate that over 300 people will engage with mentoring, at various levels through the program, with 144 engaging through a 1-year structured mentoring program.
We’ll be sharing more detailed information on this program and the Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa recruitment drive set to kick off in January.
To stay ahead and find out about our projects.
