We’ve recently partnered with leadership development experts, Common Purpose to support the MAVA Fondation pour la Nature in developing a strong conservation community that will carry on MAVA’s mandate and multiply able leaders to champion conservation causes, long after the foundation’s closing. The MAVA funded Leaders for Nature Academy will see professionals from the foundation’s partner organizations benefit from a leadership development program covering professional coaching and 360 degree mentoring, bringing together two generations of leaders (senior and young professionals).
“Effective leadership in the conservation sector is essential if we are to protect biodiversity for the benefit of people and nature. This investment in our partners will build capacity and capability, both for the individuals who take part and for their organisations. We have chosen to work with Common Purpose and Mowgli Mentoring as leaders in their respective fields.” Andre Hoffmann, MAVA, Fondation Pour la Nature
As a powerful tool of developing leaders and creating generational leadership, mentoring compliments this program by facilitating intergenerational learning exchange and collaboration to generate innovative ideas that mitigate challenges facing the conservation sector.
Developing future leaders must be intentional. Through this program, senior professionals from within the MAVA network will be trained as mentors and matched with junior professionals from other organisations in the network to work together as mentor and mentee over a twelve-month duration.
